A free classical education, for every homeschooling family
Poema Academy is a free online high school that supplements homeschooling. Rooted in the Christian Classical Liberal Arts tradition, it lets students work through carefully chosen texts at their own pace, with AI tutors to guide them and our director to oversee their progress, so they grow in wisdom and are ready to work and start businesses in the AI age.
“For we are his workmanship (poiēma), created in Christ Jesus unto good works.” Ephesians 2:10
Editable copy: Dr. Ping, the text on this page is a modest first draft. Please revise it in pages/index.html.
Free, worldwide
There is no tuition. Families anywhere in the world may apply. Lessons are text-first and light, so they can work on slow connections and older devices.
Classical and Christian
A Foundation in theology, worldview, philosophy and Western civilization, and four pillars: mathematics; science and AI; finance, economy and biblical entrepreneurship; and Latin, English, logic and the classical books.
Self-paced, with tutors
Each course is taught by an AI tutor that works only from the course texts, asks questions rather than handing out answers, and checks mastery before the next unit opens.
About Poema Academy
Poema Academy is a DBA (“doing business as” name) of Poema Institute, a nonprofit organization. It is not an accredited school. It is offered as a supplement to the education parents already give at home, and parents remain their children's primary teachers.
Students may take single courses à la carte, or work toward a Poema diploma by completing all twenty courses (the Foundation and four pillars, four years each). The diploma is our own recognition of the work done, not a state-accredited credential.
How it works
- Apply. A parent fills in a short application for the family, choosing courses for each child.
- Approval. We review each application personally. Once it is approved, the parent receives an email invitation to create a parent account.
- Student logins. The parent creates a login for each child (no student email is needed).
- Study. Students read the text, work through it with the tutor, and pass a short mastery check to open each new unit.
- Oversight. Parents see their children's progress and every tutor conversation. Our director reviews flagged conversations.
